On the occasion of the Liszt anniversary year in 2011 the KLASSZ Music Office of Hungarofest Nonprofit Ltd – official coordinator of the Liszt Year 2011 in Hungary – and the Hungarian Music Council announce the World Liszt Day project to call for international cooperation on the day of the 200^th anniversary of Franz Liszt’s birth.

The aim of the project is to initiate the performance of Franz Liszt’s oratorio Christus on 22^nd October 2011 in as many concert halls around the world as possible. The global performance of this monumental work would mark the 200^th birthday of the great composer and be the highlight of the worldwide events of the Liszt Year.

Information on the World Liszt Day project and related events will be published on the project’s official website together with a world map indicating the venues where the Christus oratorio will be performed on this special day. We ask all the music ensembles, institutions, concert organisers who would like to join this initiative, to inform us about their planned project/programme at the following address until 1^st October 2010:
